I’m Jay Sheckley, Jack Rems’ wife of Berkeley’s Dark Carnival Bookstore (510) 654-READ & also Escapist Comic Bookstore. Over the past decade, throughout local streets, shelters and shrubs, I’ve been STORMFAIRY, giving away 900 sleeping bags, 500 pair of warm gloves, 400 hand-warmers, 1000s of socks, plus tarps, combs, cookies… We all hurt sometimes. Feels good putting a gift into a person’s hands. It’s not even expensive! We once bought 1400 warm knit beanie caps for 7¢ each. CRAZY? D’oh! USELESS? Sometimes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But Kermit is right:”One frog can make a difference.”
NEW PROJECTS: CHARM KITS: Costs us $1 to give an Outsider a pocket-size jewelry stand. 🙂
☂”UNDEFEETED!” Info, socks & 30¢ antifungals prevent amputation/death from jungle rot. Dry & check your feet! ☼ CANCERFAIRY: Learning firsthand how treatment feels, we’re giving out 600 lip balms, 100 ball caps, & via Night on the Street we can serve hot chicken noodle soup, soy milk, maybe even Ensure® to our most vulnerable neighbors. [If your employer offers matching funds, send us NOTHING– Contact our 501c nonprofit partner JC Orton of Night on the Streets’ emergency GIMME SHELTER. Tell him I sent you!] See us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Stormfairy/570854589683488
